Basketball in Movies – Part 3: “Basketball Diaries” (1995)

A lot of hoops in this one. The most memorable scene is surely the final game of the St. Vitus Cardinals in which a young (and super skinny) Leo Di Caprio and his sidekick Marky Mark take the court high as kites. The results are airball-free-throws, ridiculous turnovers and non-stop vertigo. If you haven’t seen it (and are in the mood for a hardcore drug-abuse story), “Basketball Diaries” is definitely worth checking out for some old-school basketball, teenager pranks and a pretty good soundtrack.
