Just in time for the Winter 2011 Bread&Butter trade show in Berlin, trailblazing online magazine HighSnobiety.com released its highly anticipated second print issue. And the magazine delivers like the Mailman. Also due to a beautiful 10 page K1X spread named “Coast to Coast” shot in L.A. and NYC, starring streetballers from both coasts as well as NBA Legend Charles Oakley. “Coast to Coast” is also a preview of K1X’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection. When TZ, a Munich-based newspaper, caught up with pro baller Bastian Doreth the other day to play NBA 2k 11 they were taken to school. Not only had Bastian beefed up his Bayern Munich squad with the big homie, better known as Dirk Diggler, but he also brought his a-game on the controller. While it was all fun and games then, the Munich squad is getting ready to take on Cuxhaven today (8 pm) in their quest for a spot in the first division next season.

The first game between BG Göttingen and Allen Iverson’s Besiktas came down to the buzzer – it was too close to call actually. Due to problems with the shot clock in the first outing, the game was repeated yesterday and the Veilchen went to work. The 81:69 win confirmed what we already knew: Göttingen has moved to the round of the last 16 in the Eurocup behind 31 points by Trent Meacham. On to the next one!

In case you are still looking for a highlight to put under that tree next week, here are the latest additions to the official fan shop.

After his team had lost to H-Town on Wednesday RonRon has delivered yet another highlight. He called in to a radio station’s post-game show, pretending to be Luis Scola. He had some interesting things to say before finally deciding to celebrate his victory in his very own way. Things like these are exactly what makes the Tru Warier a unique character! Trent Meacham made a hail mary shot at the buzzer to secure the 85-83 win for Goettingen in their EuroCup matchup with Allen Iverson’s Besiktas Cola Turka! In front of a packed house of 4.202, the “Veilchen” overcame 18 points by the Answer and finished strong in the fourth quarter. The nail biter of a win gives Goettingen the lead in Group B while Istanbul drops to third. Cause this sure as hell ain’t practice!

Also a big shoutout to the Goettingen Fanclub, giving it to you straight.

Japan’s BJ League has a new star in the making. American Michael Parker has just shattered the league record for points scored in a game with an impressive 53 point (and 16 rebounds) outing against Takamatsu last weekend. We don’t need to mention that he is also leading the league in scoring, do we? With averages of 31,5 points and 11,6 boards per contest Michael has propelled his team, the Fukuoka Rizing, to a 5-3 record and the second spot in the Western Conference.

DIME Magazine has recently chosen the Top 25 Dunkers on the Planet. Wondering who took home the title? Two very familiar faces finished 1 and 2. To quote DIME’s Austin Burton:
2. TERRELL COURNOYEA (Team Flight Brothers)
Probable cause: At 5-foot-9, “T-Dub” does things many 6-6 NBA athletes can’t do. His hops seem almost uncontrollable.
Reasonable doubt: Can he play?
Physical evidence:
1. JUSTIN DARLINGTON (Team Flight Brothers)
Probable cause: “Jus Fly” won what may have been the greatest dunk contest ever put on. The professional contest dunker is a true original in an art form that needs creativity.
Reasonable doubt: Again, can he play?
Physical evidence:

We recently visited Justin Darlington in Toronto to check up on his eye-popping hops. And yes, there’s a very good reason they call him “Jus Fly”. So put your seat in an upright position and stow away your tray table because this is about to take off. If there is any doubt that Justin has established himself as one of the elite dunkers on this planet just ask 6’6″ Sonny Weems from the Toronto Raptors…or talk to the guys over at Bounce magazine, who just selected JD as the world’s #1 top dunker, ahead of NBA high flyers like Iggy and Josh Smith!
