Heads: Mic Donet

Even though Mic Donet has just come short of making the finals at “The Voice of Germany”, homeboy has a bright future ahead. Just cause he can flat out sing – un-fkn-fassbar! Germanys recording artist Xavier Naidoo called his upcoming album grammy worthy. We think his Beanie is as well. Big up Mic!

Heads: Maffew Ragazino Sr.

Armed with pure lyrical prowess and with the hunger and talent that comes along with a Brooklyn mc’s pedigree, Maffew enters Hip-Hop as an artist on a mission. A mission that many consider impossible, especially in terms of bringing East coast music back to the forefront. In particular music that’s not just about the beat, not just the dance and not just for the club, but all together, driven by the mc, who commands the track with lyrics, flow, content, charisma, swagger and contagious energy. K1X is very much down with that.

Spotted: Termanology

Termanology kills it! The spitting half of rap-duo 1982 goes over Swizz Beats’ “Welcome To The Jungle” (originally used by Jay-Z & Kanye West for their “Watch The Throne”-Album). Good looking in our K1X Shimmy Shimmy Ya College Jacket [0:32].

Spotted: Mac Miller

Mac Miller, on tour like forever now, dropped in at our K1X Store in NYC the other day. We had the chance to meet him for the first time last year in September, so it was cool top catch up. And it has already been announced that he’ll be headlining a couple of European festivals this year (such as Hip Hop Open and Splash, both Germany) – stay tuned for updates.

Can’t stop – won’t stop. It’s great to see rap pioneers like De La Soul still doing their thing. Currently touring Europe, Kelvin Mercer aka Posdnuos was spotted in our K1X Hip Hop Don’t Stop tee, probably because that message is right up his alley. Good lookin’ out, Pos!

Spotted: 1982 feat. Reks

Statik Selektah and Termanology (1982) recently toured Europe with the homey Reks to promote Statik’s latest release “Population Control”. Even while on tour, they made sure they hit the studio and record! The result of this very session is called “Play Your Role”. Song and video recorded in Sweden (Mahalo Studio) in less than 45 min.

Spotted: J. Cole

It was the man himself who tweeted this image of himself and his crew in front of the Eiffel Tower the other day (“Got my ni**as is Paris. For real.”). And since Paris is the fashion capital of the world, J. Cole opted to go for our MTP Zipper Hoody, which he picked up a couple of days earlier in Berlin, the previous stop of his “Cole World” tour. Good looking out J!

Heads: eLZhi

The ex-member of Detroit rap collective Slum Village recently toured Europe to present his latest work “elMATIC” – live with a band. Obviously, the project is his homage to one of rap’s greatest, Mr. Nasir Jones, and his hip hop milestone from 1994. And even tough Nas’ classic is untouchable, eLZhi’s reinterpretation definitely brings back that good old NYC 90s flavor…

elZHi is wearing our new K1X Urban Hooded Jacket (also available in dark brown). Also make sure to check out HHV Mag for a detailed review of the night’s events!

Heads: Cali Agents

This Cali based rap combo consists of two very experienced individuals with two of rap’s most distinctive voices: Soulfather Rasco and Planet Asia aka King Medallions. And although they’ve been busy as solo artists recently, the duo makes sure they join forces every now and then for a CA banger. They have just finished their “Federal Rhyme Agency Tour”, preparing Europe for their fourth studio album. Check them out on their official facebook page.

Heads: Just Blaaaze

Just Blaze is the definition of a heavy hitter. The guy who gave us hits like Jay-Z’s “Girls, Girls, Girls” or “You Don’t Know”, Joe Budden’s “Pump It Up”, Fabulous’ “Breathe” or Eminem’s “No Love” is currently touring Europe with a DJ Set that’ll set a grown man’s pants on fire. Make sure you don’t miss it!
And: congratulations on the Grammy for the productions on Em’s “Recovery” album!

“Kings of New York” by Barron Claiborne

This collaboration includes a photographic art project as well as the “Tonz-O-Gunz“ t-shirt series, based on Claiborne‘s iconic image of the Notorious B.I.G. – which graces the front of our limited K1X tee. For the release of this unique collaboration, Barron Claiborne joined us in the opening of our new flagship store in SoHo (New York) and treated many of those present to an exclusive photo shoot.

Guests included singer Patrice, pro basketball players like Corey Williams & Brian Kortovich, photographers Mike Schreiber & Quazi as well as hip hop aficionados, media and many friends. Barron Claiborne took portraits of the guests, who got to wear the original crown that became legendary via his notorious “King of New York“ image (1997) –  the last photograph taken of Christopher Wallace aka B.I.G. before his assassination.

The “Tonz-O-Gunz“ tee by Barron Claiborne with K1X is limited to only 500 pieces world wide and is now available exclusively at the “K1X NYC“ store. In addition, the world’s largest print of Claiborne’s iconic “Tonz-O-Gunz” design is sold at the store as well! Catch a selection of images after the jump or find the gallery on Facebook!
