The Chiefglider

K1X Warrior Rasheed Sparks becomes the first nationally recognizable face of K1X. In a stroke of brilliance, Sneaka Pete creates our first footwear silhouette – the K1X Chiefglider. A pure breed performer with a full leather upper that would lay the groundwork for K1X’s on-court philosophy for all of the following models: namely to build basketball sneakers that are close to the ground, to minimize risk of injury while maximizing court feel and ups!

Fabulous Fab & DynaMike

Handball pro DynaMike Hairston, Ken Austin and Fabulous Fabi Greiser win just about every slam dunk contest they enter. Fu, Philipp and Noyel assemble a “K1X Warriors” squad that goes on to dominate the German streetball scene and win back-to-back-toback national titles in a legendary threepeat that puts K1X on the map for good.

Dominance at German Streetball Challenge

Team captain Paul Howard and the man in the middle Roberto Aufiero anchor the team that also features our friends Justus Hammer, Christian Boszczyk, Rasheed Sparks, Ken “Whodat” Carter, national team member Heiko Schaffartzik, downtown bomber Niko Jovanovic, Ryan “Elbows” DeMichael, Michael Lake, Bryan Jones, Babis Douludis, Robert Shepherd, Mike “Juuuuunge” Baron, “Iron” Thilo Klette, John Bynum, Karim Aw, Brian Jones, Adul Shamsid Deen, Christopher Sneed, Bobby Baumbach, and Ladies Love Samba Thiam. Thanks for helping us establish a legacy, guys!

We got Footwear!

Niels, who would later take the reigns in regard to marketing the brand (and who is writing these words right now), lands the world’s coolest gig as host of “Inside NBA” on the sports channel, drastically increasing the visibility of K1X. Mission accomplished. Sneaka Pete, who may have invented leopard hoop shorts and the world’s ugliest finger-roll, is sick of designing football (soccer) shoes for a brand named after a smelly wild cat and teams up with a brand named after a slang word for “sneakers”, but pronounced “kay-one-ex”, which even sports its own gang sign. Hmmm …

Play hard!

The year is spent in preparation of the centennial, which turns out to be kinda boring after all. But initial K1X designs on tees and snap-back caps create quite a buzz. The “d.i.y.” feel of the lil’ brand is appealing to ballers and their entourage. Chris come up with “Play hard, don’t embarrass our products”, a claim that perfectly personifies our love for the game. The online store www.kickz.com is created to tear shit up. It does.

Tag Logo

A local graffitti sprayer is asked to scribble “K1X” on a piece of paper. Thank you, we’ll take that. One take. Word.

By Ballers for Ballers

Pick-up basketball and 90ies era hip hop are the two driving forces that define our inner circle. The common inspiration to “create our own brand” fuels the project “K1X”. The vision of guys like Chris, Pete, Fu, Niels, Roberto and “The Spelling Bee Champ” Robbin were instrumental in establishing the “By ballers for ballers” philosophy and vibe of the brand.
