benson callier is taking our “play hard, don’t embarrass our products!” approach to the heart. sleeping in his brother’s dodge in front of the gym just to get a chance to compete against the best – and ultimately achieve his goal, a spot in the league. that’s just one of his stories. the 6-6 forward, who has been featured in slam before, has recently been named one of the top 25 players not in the nba – yet.
for more info about benson’s unique journey and the basketball camp he is currently holding for 6-16 years olds check out his blog at www.bensoncallier.blogspot.com.
Germany’s capital is the center of the world this week. Berlin is currently hosting the much anticipated “Fashion Week” as well as the return of the “Bread & Butter” fashion trade fair. That means the city got more fashion gurus, freaks, victims and trendsetters than a full season of Sex and the City. Of course, K1X is getting in on the action with various projects and events. If you’re in town, make sure to visit “Hip Hop Don’t Stop (K1X Edition)”, Berlin’s consensus MVP when it comes to hip hop parties. Saturday, July 4th at “Tube Station” (Friedrich Street 180-184, Mitte). DJ Amanda Diva (NYC), Walter (Tel Aviv), Bianca Checker and resident San Gabriel will make sure things pop off, as usual. K1X created this limited tee for the big event. Get it at the event or make sure you get one of the limited joints at the kickz store (Muenzstreet 20).
here are some first impressions of the lower manhattan classic, as well as a better look at at the exclusive k1x tees and uniforms in action. speaking of which, say hello to bounce magazine’s mamadou “40 cal” hanne and his weapon of choice, the megaphone.

ryan “special fx” williams competed at the sprite slam dunk contest at madison square garden in nyc yesterday and snatched the $ 1,000 prize money despite a highly competitive field that included jfk, air bama and troy mccray. that gets him a luxury trip to the all-star game in dallas next year, where he will compete for the ultimate title vs. fellow team flight brothers guy dupuy, t-dub and more high flyers. nice goin’ ryan, you goddayme … !

chris goodman, called thx by his friends, could be one of cali’s next hot youngn on the production boards. he came in the game 19 years old. that was in 2005. now, 4 years later, the list of artists he worked with already sounds pretty impressive: underground cats like mc eight, kam and kurupt but also the big names, such as david banner and snoop dogg, are on there. guess we should definitely keep an eye on him.
thx wears our k1x fade away pique zipper hoody and our k1x restricted tee.
last weekend, the 9th edition of the storied hoop event “l’asphalte” brought a ton of a-game to the courts of ploemeur (west france’s acclaimed streetball capital). Saturday’s exhibition game between The Asphalt All Stars and The West Coast All Stars went all the way down to the wire. In the end, the local squad bagged the 1-point victory. L’Asphalte wouldn’t be france’s top best grass-roots streetball meet without its atomic dunk exhibition. The afternoon dunk session featured original members of Slam Nation (like Kadour Ziani, Kevin Lescot, Sergio Bokolo and Laurent Duville) and the eye-popping high flyers of the SX3 streetball crew (Dany Lamadji, Max Ouheirerre, Julien Bonnet). But it was the 35 year old K1X warrior Kadour Ziani who took home the props and underlined his dunkfather status, throwing down combinations of powerful dunks and his home cooked specials double windmill, 360, zianimal and kick the rim. On Sunday, team ” Al Arash” feat. Sergio Bokolo, Kevin Couliau, Kadour Ziani and Geoffrey Bourcier won the 3×3 battle. We look forward to next year’s 10th anniversary.
rob birch, frontman of the legendary stereo mc’s, rocked our favorite club “edmoses” in downtown munich last weekend, along with brazilian djane joyce muniz of vienna’s famous fm4 radio. birch got busy on the turntables and later grabbed the mic spontaneously, freestyling his way thru an ecstatic set that went on til 7 am. unforgettable for everybody in attendance. of course, we hooked the rob up with some of our most exclusive looks, like the plum DCAC’s and the limited Club Selecao barcelona tee. thanks to the wonderful slavica for the pics!
