Our boys from the Urspring Academy (Germany) won last night’s final at the famous Arby’s Classic in Tennessee. They are the first foreign team to take the title in this storied high-school basketball tournament’s 30 year history! Urspring beat Mentor (Ohio) 63-51 in front of a capacity crowd in hard fought (but ugly) battle.

“Winning is not about beauty,” said Urspring coach Michael Spoecker. “Winning itself is beautiful enough. You cannot play beautiful and win – or that would be like perfect. But if I have to choose beauty or winning, winning it is.” You said it, coach!

Spoecker’s squad played a perfect 5-0 tournament, while Urspring’s Malik Mueller was named the tournament’s most valuable player. But they could not have accomplished this heroic feat without Kenneth Ogbe, who lead the team with 24 points and 8 rebounds in the final game.

So so proud of you guys!!

The Urspring Academy is sponsored by Cybex and takes the court in a customized layout of K1X’s Double-X jerseys and shorts
